Introduction

Poracle has first class internationalisation support including every user string translatable, and all notifications being able to be customised.

Single language

"general": {
  "locale": "en", // default locale for Poracle - eg en, fr, de, it, ru
}

Change the locale in your local.json file - this will cause Poracle to pick up the translation file in config/locale - eg fr.json. If you want to change any translations, please see the customisation section later.

Multi-language

Poracle supports full per-user multi-language. It’s quite easy to set up!

Configuration

     "availableLanguages": {
        "en": {"poracle": "poracle", "help": "help" },
        "de": {"poracle": "dasporacle", "help": "hilfe" },
        "fr": {"poracle": "leporacle", "help": "aide" }
    },

The poracle parameter is the watch word that will wake up the bot in a specific language. These don’t all need to be different, but the first matching language will be chosen.

The help commands are defined so that poracle can answer to help requests in the correct language.

User’s DTS will be picked based on the language currently chosen.

Users can switch language using the !language command.

Customising the translation

  • Create a file called custom.<locale>.json - eg custom.en.json in your config directory to override standard configuration

Translating your own language
